DJI Introduces the Matrice 4 Drone Series with Powerful Cameras for Rescue Missions and Inspections

DJI has unveiled its new Matrice 4 drone series, designed specifically for government and industrial clients, including inspection agencies, law enforcement, search and rescue teams, and agricultural monitoring organizations. These drones are compact, reliable, and user-friendly platforms, engineered to capture high-quality imagery both day and night with maximum efficiency.

“With the Matrice 4 series, DJI is ushering in a new era of intelligent aerial operations. By equipping our industry-leading enterprise drones with artificial intelligence, search and rescue teams can save lives more swiftly. Furthermore, the Matrice 4 series takes intelligence to the next level, enabling the drones to meet growing operational demands across a variety of challenging scenarios,” DJI stated in its press release.

Two Models in the Matrice 4 Series

The Matrice 4 series consists of two models:

  1. Matrice 4T – Equipped with a thermal imaging camera.
  2. Matrice 4E – Geared toward geodetic and mapping applications.

Both models feature advanced optical systems, including two primary cameras with f/2.8 apertures and 48 MP sensors. One module has a lens with an equivalent focal length of 70 mm, while the other features a 168 mm lens. This setup allows operators to discern details from up to 250 meters away. Additionally, each drone is equipped with a laser rangefinder capable of measuring distances up to 1,800 meters.

Matrice 4T: Focused on Search and Rescue

The Matrice 4T is specifically designed for search and rescue missions and special operations. It includes an infrared thermal imaging camera capable of capturing images at resolutions up to 1280 × 1024 pixels. An infrared spotlight illuminates scenes up to 100 meters away, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. The drone also features a 24-mm wide-angle lens with a 48 MP sensor and an infrared filter.

Matrice 4E: Precision for Mapping and Inspections

The Matrice 4E is ideal for geodetic, mapping, construction, and inspection tasks, where high resolution is crucial. Its camera, equipped with a 20 MP sensor and a 24-mm wide-angle lens, can capture images while flying at speeds up to 21 m/s. The intelligent 3D mapping mode enables the creation of precise models and routes with reference points, which can be visualized in virtual environments.

Advanced Features and Software

The Matrice 4 drones incorporate sophisticated software for automated object recognition and tracking. For additional customization, developer tools are included in the package.
In low-light conditions, the drones rely on six fisheye lenses that enhance navigation and obstacle avoidance. Fog and haze removal is handled programmatically using Adobe Lightroom software, ensuring clear imagery even in challenging environments.

New Accessories for Enhanced Functionality

Alongside the Matrice 4 series, DJI has introduced several new accessories:

  • DJI AL1 Spotlight: Illuminates objects at a distance.
  • DJI AS1 Loudspeaker: Projects sound up to 300 meters.
  • D-RTK 3 Multi-Functional Station: Enhances positioning accuracy and image transmission at high altitudes, even in areas without cellular connectivity. This station can also mark ground control points for the drone.

The Matrice 4 series represents a significant leap forward in aerial technology, providing innovative tools to address the evolving demands of industries that rely on drones for critical operations.
