Google CEO: Google Search Will Change Dramatically in 2025

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has pledged a “profound transformation” of the company’s search engine by 2025. Speaking at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit, Pichai expressed optimism about the future, stating, “I think we’ll be able to solve more complex problems than ever before.”

He added:

“You’ll be surprised by how much innovation will reshape Google Search from what it is today.”

Pichai also addressed comments made earlier this year by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who suggested that Google was expected to be the “default winner” in the AI race due to its computational power, data, models, products, and distribution—but that didn’t happen. Responding, Pichai remarked, “I’d love to compare Microsoft’s models with ours.”, and pointed out that Microsoft relies on “others’ models,” referencing the company’s partnership with OpenAI.

According to Pichai, Google is in the early stages of a deep transformation. “There’s so much innovation ahead. We aim to lead in this field, and I think we’re doing that”, he said.

This year, Google began a major overhaul of its search system by integrating AI, including features like AI-generated summaries and updates to Google Lens, which enables users to search the web using images or videos. The company is also preparing to launch a significant update to its Gemini AI model, keeping pace with competitors like Microsoft, OpenAI, and the AI-powered search platform Perplexity.
