Processors for Sony Playstation 6 Will Appear in 2026 – AMD Is Preparing the UDNA Architecture

According to an insider, AMD is preparing to unveil a new gaming graphics architecture called UDNA, with processors for the Sony PlayStation 6 based on this technology set to enter production in less than two years.

The trusted blogger Zhanjunhao from Chiphell reports that AMD plans to release its UDNA gaming GPUs no earlier than the second quarter of 2026. These could represent next-generation Radeon graphics cards, which, like the upcoming RDNA4 architecture, are expected to target the mainstream and budget segments rather than the high-end enthusiast market.

Interestingly, there will be no RDNA5 architecture – AMD is instead shifting to UDNA, a unified architecture reminiscent of the earlier Vega series. Unified architectures can simplify development but raise questions about how they will cater to diverse market needs, given the distinct requirements of different segments.

While the move toward a unified architecture brings some uncertainties, it seems likely that Sony will continue to rely on AMD chips for its gaming consoles. However, Microsoft’s situation is more complex, as the company has been collaborating with Qualcomm. Meanwhile, NVIDIA, reportedly developing its own processor with powerful integrated graphics, has yet to formally announce its plans.

No technical details about UDNA have been shared so far, but given AMD’s track record, it’s clear the company is working on something exciting for the gaming industry.
