Samsung to Unveil AI-Powered Smart Glasses in January 2025

Samsung is preparing to unveil its first smart glasses in January, with a preview planned during the launch of the Galaxy S25 flagship smartphones, according to Yonhap News. The software platform for this new device type will be introduced earlier, while the official debut of the smart glasses is set for the third quarter.

At the Galaxy S25 event, Samsung reportedly won’t give a full reveal of the smart glasses, opting for images or a video presentation instead. This approach mirrors how the company introduced its Galaxy Ring smart rings at the January Unpacked event earlier this year, followed by detailed discussions in February during MWC and a full launch in July alongside its latest foldable devices.

The XR software platform powering the glasses is expected to be unveiled in December. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, this platform was first announced in February of last year. Samsung’s smart glasses, which weigh just 50 grams and lack a display, will closely resemble Ray-Ban Meta glasses. A significant feature of the software will be Google Gemini AI, alongside gesture recognition and payment capabilities.

The Galaxy S25 presentation, and the preliminary announcement of the smart glasses, are rumored to take place on January 22.
